What gas type do Longhorn BBQs use?

Longhorn gas BBQs are designed for LPG (bottled gas) only. There is no manufacturer-approved natural gas conversion kit available, and attempting a conversion is not recommended as it may void your warranty. Check your product listing for specific heat output ratings.

What safety certifications do Longhorn BBQs have?

All Longhorn gas BBQs carry AGA certification (AGA Certificate No. 8138 G) for Australian and New Zealand gas safety standards. They are outdoor use only and require a minimum clearance of 1,000mm (1 metre) from combustible materials on all sides.

How much assembly is required?

The 8 Burner Signature and Outdoor Kitchen models arrive largely pre-assembled on a timber crate — you mainly need to remove wrapping and connect gas. Customers report it takes longer to unwrap than to assemble. The 5 and 6 Burner models require some assembly using the included instructions. All gas BBQ models include a quality BBQ cover.

How heavy are the BBQs?

Longhorn BBQs are built from premium stainless steel and are substantial. The larger models are heavy — the 8 Burner Signature requires at least 4 people to move into position. The 5 and 6 Burner models have castors for easy repositioning. Check individual product pages for exact weights.

What's the difference between the Stainless and Gunmetal models?

The Gunmetal models (6 Burner and 8 Burner Signature) have the same specs and features as their Stainless counterparts but with a sleek dark gunmetal stainless steel finish at a premium price point. Same cooking performance, different aesthetic.

What's the difference between the wood and gas pizza ovens?

The Wood Fired Pizza Oven (approx. 102kg, freestanding with wheels) uses real wood for authentic smoky flavour and can reach up to 400°C — cooking pizza in as little as 90 seconds. It's also great for roasts, bread, and fish. The Gas Fired Pizza Oven (12.6kg, portable) uses gas for convenience and consistent temperature control. Both produce excellent results; wood is for purists, gas is for ease.

What's the difference between Kamado and Hibachi grills?

Kamado grills (21" and 26") are large, egg-shaped ceramic cookers based on ancient Asian clay vessels. They seal in moisture and flavour for slow-cooking, smoking, roasting, and grilling — incredibly versatile. The 21" weighs 82kg. Hibachi grills (15.5" and 21.5") are compact, open-top tabletop ceramic grills inspired by Japanese Yakitori-style cooking — perfect for skewers, quick grilling, and portable entertaining.

Do Longhorn BBQs come with a cover?

Yes — all Longhorn gas BBQs include a quality BBQ cover. Covers are also available separately for replacement. Using a cover is essential for protecting your investment from New Zealand weather conditions.

Can I get replacement parts for my Longhorn BBQ?

Yes. Trade Tested carries replacement parts including stainless steel cooking grids (available for 5 and 6 Burner models), rotisserie sets, and other components. Contact Trade Tested at 0800 800 880 or support@tradetested.co.nz with your model and serial number for parts availability and pricing.

Is the Built-In BBQ the same as the standalone models?

The Built-In 30" 5 Burner is designed for permanent installation in custom outdoor kitchen cabinetry. It shares AGA certification with the standalone gas BBQ range but without the cart, castors, and storage cabinet. The manual includes detailed cutout dimensions and clearance requirements for safe installation. Professional installation is recommended.
